CONCEPT
Siccità (Dryness), a film directed by Paolo Virzì, is set in a Rome where rain has been missing for about three years. The lack of water forces population to search for any few drops, while the increasing thirst alters everybody’s mind, to a point in which rules the entire community is based on are completely overturn.
Among these people we find a group of characters with different ages and backgrounds; some are just victims, while others are true opportunists. All these people seek for redemption, unaware that their lives are tied together in a rather dramatic way, as only sardonic fate can.
I am very proud I had the opportunity to work for a director I respect very much. I took care of the chats that involved two characters in the row: Luca (Vinicio Marchioni) and Mila (Elena Lietti). Both on stage and composited inside their cell phones.
The creative idea provides a translucent effect in the chat balloons, blurring the background inside.
With shaded grey color for the female protagonist and shaded blue for the male one, the end effect is very effective.
